After his sister’s early passing due to Breast Cancer, David D. Oquendo took upon creating “gift boxes” for therapeutic reasons. The act of creating and wrapping a gift box created a tranquil mental environment for him. Each box is a unique piece wrapped in positive and affirmative messages. The inside of each box has a small scroll with a secret positive message - the gift boxes are not supposed to be opened. Materials used are usually a found and hand-made boxes, jute twine, wax, ink, paint, gold leaf, kraft paper, and rice paper.
